The Danish National Research Foundation’s Center for Music in the Brain (MIB) is an interdisciplinary research center at Aarhus University and the Royal Academy of Music, aiming to address the dual questions of how music is processed in the brain. In four brief talks the symposium provides an insight into some of the aspects of the MIB research.
“A New Drug? – Music as Medication”
Throughout the past decade, solid biomedical and psychological evidence has emerged, demonstrating the beneficial effects of music for a variety of somatic and psychiatric disorders and improvement of general well-being. This talk provides an overview of existing evidence that may facilitate applications of music and the development of novel technologies that can assist music intervention in the healthcare sector.
