SPOT Festival adds 20 new artists and bands to the line-up: 16 Danish acts, two Norwegian and two Finnish ones. Together they represent a broad range of what the Nordic music scene currently has to offer.
Among the Danish additions you find Alex Vargas (picture), whose music is best defined as white noise soul, and he has already attracted interest in the UK, the rest of Europe and in the USA. Then there are the Danish/Australian indie-psych duo Palace Winter, Virgin Suicide’s 80’s inspired guitar pop, and The Awesome Welles’s noisy guitars, which were named ‘’Album of the Week’’ in German Die Welt.
Kentaur’s trademark is sensitive neo-soul, and we have new initiatives from well-known figures in the form of Troels Abrahamsen’s new piano and vocal borne solo project EXEC (Arbahamsen is known from internationally touring Veto) and the three childhood friends in Dúné’s new impulsive and playful rock profile, which continues to attract international attention.
From the Danish R’n’B scene SPOT announces ANYA and Karl William – two very promising acts, both of whom have received several prestigious awards for their music, and Saint Cava, whose album ‘’Bliss’’ was named the fifth-best Danish release last year by Soundvenue magazine. Talking about promising acts we need to mention the trio Chinah, who have already attracted attention in both England and Germany with their soft and sensitive electronic pop.
Furthermore, we have the Norwegian Gundelach, who Pharrel Williams himself handpicked for his own radio programme: both Spotify and Tidal appointed him as “one to watch” in 2016. SPOT also presents dreamy indie pop from fellow Norwegian artist Guns, who has also received international attention.
Finland contributes with the psychedelic 60s rock-inspired members in DEATH HAWKS, as well as the experimental and minimalistic pop brought by The Hearing.
In addition SPOT is happy to announce J.Arlin’s feel-good pop, The Eclectic Moniker’s unruly indie pop, Xolo Islands danceable electronic pop, and Northern Assembly’s atmospheric folk. Last but not least the stringent futuristic hip-hop from SLOWWOLF who has collaborated with Wu-Tang Clan and remixed MØ, will be playing at SPOT.
