Blazing fiddles, beautiful voices, young traditional dancers, and freestyle rap are among the things you are in for when ROSA-folk in cooperation with RETHINK Folk Music celebrates the Danish music scene with an explosive day party. On Saturday between 11am and 3pm the lawn between Voxhall and Atlas will be filled with music and dance: here focus will be on the roots. Here you will have the opportunity to get quite close to the Danish folk music scene and meet representatives from the Danish festivals, clubs, associations, organisations and record labels each of whom work with folk music in all its aspects.
On stage Jansberg (bottom picture), Ida Wenøe & The Silver Cords, Elof & Wamborg, and Barrow will play, and then the folktronica band Mallebrok, who on this special occasion will be joined by well-known rapper Per Vers. Between the sets young musicians from 2017 will perform, RETHINK Folk Music being a project under Aarhus 2017 that is supposed to get music students to rethink the traditional folk music in new musical frameworks. FOD will present Danish traditional dancing with a giant kick of youthful freshness.
From 5pm the official SPOTonFolk showcase begins at Atlas. Here, four very different folk acts, who are about to conquer the international music stages, will play. The four acts are Jansberg, Ida Wenøe & The Silver Cords, Elof & Wamberg and Barrow. With Danish roots and a chilly Nordic charm, they each embrace musical impressions from the rest of the world in their own way.
