14 new acts are now announced at SPOT Festival: 8 upcoming Danish acts who serve as examples of the directions Danish music is moving in, a Swedish and a Norwegian singersongwriter, and lastly 4 folk-oriented Danish acts. Quite a few of them have already attracted international attention.

To describe the new ways in Danish music, SPOT presents Girls In Airports, an experimental mixture of jazz and folk, Molly who plays punk-rock with an edge, the project Moses: ’’Andreas’’ presents a more electronic r’n’b sound, Shy Shy Shy belongs in the indie pop genre, while Wangel and Saveus are electronic pop. Two Danish-language acts are also announced: Maja Og De Sarte Sjæle, who play indie-pop with a touch of melancholy, whereas TÅRN stands out with their own version of Psych-pop.

In addition, SPOT presents Norwegian singersongwriter EERA (photo top), who currently lives in London and has got attention from BBC Radio, Clash Magazine and the Line of Best Fit, and her Swedish singersongwriting colleague Sea Lion who is associated with folk – and Kate Bush.

The four following Danish artists are proof that folk music is not just a relic of the past: Ida Wenøe & The Silver Cords arose in the wake of Ida’s break-up with the successful trio, Boho Dancer, and amongst others The Guardian has praised Ida Wenøes music: “Her voice – weary but cute, with the power to cut through – is perfect; she sounds like the young narrator of her own magical-malevolent fantasies.” Wenøes & co. are soon to play at Folk Alliance International in Kansas – a job the band acquired at the Tønder Festival last year.

The violinist Henrik Jansberg has also been added to the line-up. He has already toured in Scotland, England and the Scandinavian countries, while Germany and Estonia are waiting in the near future. Furthermore, Barrow with their Nordic-Americana and the doublebass/ukulele duo Elof & Wamberg will also perform.
