Raga, rhythm and gripping melodies. This is what you can expect from the concert with the indo-jazz orchestra Bollywood Beats and Big Band. Bollywood Beats and Big Band is a collaboration between Aarhus Jazz Orchestra, Randers Kammer Orchestra, Composer in Residence Lars Møller and two of India’s best musicians, Kala Rammath and Abhijit Banerjee. The Project is a part of Aarhus 2017 and rethinks how different cultures can learn from each other towards the year of the culture capital year. For SPOT Festival Bollywood Beats and Big Band shows how is sounds when you combine the western big band scale, with Indian classical music. The music is both familiar and new. The Indian advances rhythm challenges our sense of time while captivating melodies makes the music accessible.
