The clock is ticking and the SPOT Festival 2016 is approaching fast. As a little warm-up we’ll give you a few Q&As with some of the participants from the international music industry on their motivations for travelling to Aarhus.
Roel Coppen (NL) – MD at Friendly Fire
Friendly Fire features concert promotion, booking agency, artist management, and events. Their currently working with Danish acts such as Communions, Broken Twin, WhoMadeWho, Alphabeat, and Choir of Young Believers.
How many times have you visited the SPOT Festival?
2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, so this would be my 6th time.
What do you and Friendly Fire get from your visit here?
We (colleague Age Versluis and myself) hope to take home a big bunch of good new artists to work on for NL, but it’s also always good to get an idea of the current state of the Danish and Nordic music scene, and to meet up with colleagues in the business and old friends.
Do you have any special agendas for this year’s festival?
Not really, I haven’t been to SPOT in a while and I’ve been working my way through the Spotify list of confirmed artists so I guess I’m going to be seeing a lot of shows this year!
What is your opinion on the current Danish/Nordic music scene?
If this year’s lineup can be seen as an indication, it’s going to be a good one – I want to see half of the artists I’ve heard so far so I’d say the current state is pretty good!
Are the networking possibilities and seminars at the SPOT Festival part of the reason for your participation in the festival?
It’s great to meet (new) people but in all honesty, for me it’s mainly about seeing the artists live in action.
Tobias Lampe (DE) – Managing Director at hfn music
hfn music works with almost all spectrums of music. Currently they’re working with Danish acts such as Jacob Bellens, Trentemøller and Kasper Bjørke.
How many times have you visited the SPOT Festival?
This is actually the 2nd time.
What do you and hfn music get from your visit here?
We had a great time meeting Artists, Business-Partners and Friends while enjoying fantastic artists & shows 😉
Do you have any special agendas for this year’s festival?
Actually meeting Artists, Business-Partners and Friends while enjoying fantastic artists & shows is the target again.
What is your opinion on the current Danish/Nordic music scene?
It looks more vital, strong and internationally successful than ever before, I however appreciate the current variety and quality of music out of Denmark.
Are the networking possibilities and seminars at the SPOT Festival part of the reason for your participation in the festival?
This is a great solid base I would expect from any professional Festival and surely it is one of the reasons.
