The line-up for SPOT 2016 is really taking shape, and the recent additions span from urban to world music.
First up is Lowly (DK), whose noise-pop landed a deal with the British label, Bella Union last year – partly due to the band’s performance at SPOT Festival 2015. Next up is the young jazz duo Bremer/McCoy (DK) – a double bass player and a pianist playing a genre hybrid where they mix up jazz with elements of reggae and dub. The duo plan to release their third album in September. And we’d also like draw your attention to highly talented, Ary (NO), whose mixture of pop and electronic has been on everyone’s lips since her appearance at by:Larm in Oslo.
Furthermore, three of the biggest Nordic urban acts will be performing at SPOT 2016; S!vas (DK), Unge Ferrari (NO) and Lorentz (SE) – read more here.
Danish music export collaboration Danish Vibes will present three acts from the jazz, folk and world scenes – Mames Babegenush’s mix of Jewish dance music and new waves of modern music, KutiMangoes’s afrobeats inspired by legends such as Fela Kuti and Charles Mingus, and folkish singer-songwriter Anne Sharling (folk).
DUP – Danish Independent Record Labels will present 10 acts fronted by the always vigorously psychobilly act Powersolo and SPOT veteran Jomi Massage. The list also includes Redwood Hill, Lew, ML Buch, Danni Toma, ticktock, Saida, Vessel and Cabal.
Finally, a number of acts will be playing SPOT in a collaboration with venue TAPE and organizers PB-43: Distortion Girls, GENTS, Morgan Square, Frisk Frugt, We like We, SVIN and last but not least Speaker Bite Me, the lead singer of which is Signe Høirup Wille-Jørgensen aka Jomi Massage,.
